Following on from my Cookies post, researching the cookies that Google Analytics places on your computer – it arises that you have the options:
1. sharing data with everyone (including Google and third party)
2. or no one
Now you might not know this option exist so below are the up to date instructions on how to check and turn OFF sharing – if you so want.
Why turn it off? You don’t have to however if you don’t then you would need to highlight that the information stored in the cookie could then be shared with ANYONE
- Log into Google Analytics
- Click on the site that you are interested in
- (You must be the ADMIN to do this)
- Click ADMIN top right
- Now click YOURCHOSENSITE in the breadcrumb line to the middle left of the screen which says:
- All Accounts > YOURCHOSENSITE
- Then click oN Account Settings
- The you will see the sharing information, select the DO NOT SHARE radio button – and click apply!
Here is a screen shot to help you :

Then this means you are collecting the minimal data required to help you with your own website – and if you find that doesn’t work – goodbye stats!!
